Royal Oak* HS
15m. Two nice pitches up the spiky ridge and hidden slab at the right-hand end of the much-maligned Lower Tier. Start 4 metres right of Gargoyle Groove, below a sprawling, but struggling oak tree. 1 8m (4a). Climb the ramp to the right of the tree for 3 metres, until a step left, using a hollow flake gains the ridge. Follow it to a bridged block. 2 7m (4b). Pull up into a wide shallow scoop, before making the crux move right to gain the brown slab. Climb this, and the short corner above to the top. Block belays 6 metres back.
