backed off due to lack of daylight at the start of the Chimney pitch, waist deep unconsolidated powder and poor ice slowed us down too much. Hard work climbing back up to the ridge in the same soft snow. Trevor did all the hard bits on some very poor ice in places! (getting of the collapsing snow cone onto the face on the door jam pitch being quite interesting)

RUMC meet. Max a New Zealander had lot of Alpine expnce in NZ. VG snow and ice. 1st problem bypassing Door Jamb hard ice on right. Gt Chimney quite icy in big holds. Gt Cave scared witless in case I couldn't lead it we had 30 mins of daylight remaining
