Intended to climb Western Ridge but think we did this instead. Pitched the bottom section before the ridge eased off. Plenty of okay-ish ice at the bottom, tuft was good enough too, went off right at the steep grove and climbed up tuft blobs up a slab, before getting onto the ridge and much easier terrain. Walk of shame back to the car...

Some tricky route finding and some spicy moves. III (4) would be more of an appropriate grade.
Ed - AltLd - 07/Feb/15

Great and long route. Soloed first pitch then 7 pitches before moving together. I led round slab - hard rockover (4) round LHS of slab then steep gully to escape left before rejoining ridge direct. Ran like mad to catch the last bubble.

Teaching day on WIT, heavy going approach. Excellent turf and patches of good ice. Led 2 long grade III pitches before swapping over. Cornered ourselves in an overhanging groove (V). Rapped of at 1600, missed the gondola, walked all the way down in darkness, bogs, knee deep powder and river crossings...type 2 fun.

Enjoyable sustained route with very hard pitch up the slab. Good frozen turf but fresh powder with no or little neve made it interesting in places!

Very good value for the grade. Soloed the initial section then 5 pitches to the end of the difficulties, led even ones. Mike's variation on pitch 3 was really hard to second. Turf well frozen.
Fiona Reid - AltLd O/S - 01/Mar/14 with Mike

Took an absorbing direct line on the slab. Good route.
Mike-W-99 - AltLd O/S - 01/Mar/14 with Fiona

Soloed up a bit at the start then 5 pitches. Led 1, 3, 5

Did the whole of the ridge proper moving together in a three. Poor conditions too warm and started raining with heavy wind half way up, which made it feel a little serious. Kinda spicy pitch on left of slab. Enjoyed bits of it despite hideous conditions.
monsteratt - AltLd O/S - 29/Jan/13 with Dan Fairbank, Nick Whimster

moved together, got soaked and blown all over the place!

With +20kg rucksacks! Great climb, hard pitch after reaching base of triangular slab, perhaps took a difficult line..
ollie1 - AltLd β - 27/Jan/12

Difficult snow conditions making for a slow approach and some gnarly climbing. Ab'd off from half way up the slabs.
Moonstone Hippy - AltLd dnf - 17/Dec/11 with Phil

Move together for much of it, although pitched a pretty technical pitch, just left of the obvious slab. Great route, no stars in new Cicerone guide!
Ken Applegate - Lead - 19/Jan/11 with Lena Brune, Martyn Stott

Moved together lower section, 2 pitches then soloed top section. Great bumslide down the ski run to finish.
