Rockfax Description
A sustained series of testing pitches that tackle the tallest section of the East Buttress. Start as for The Yellow Slab at a vertical grassy break between two short walls, just up from the lowest point of the buttress.
1) 5b, 25m. Start up the first easy section of The Yellow Slab and then move left to a flake-line. Follow this until a traverse left and move up to reach a sloping ledge and belay on the right.
2) 5c, 16m. Head up a steep wall to ledges and then on up to a recess. Thin climbing up the wall on the left is followed by an insecure move up onto a slab. Pull up and move right to belay.
3) 5c, 9m. Move up the short step to the right and then up the wall past a ledge and bulge to a belay on a long ledge.
4) 5c, 25m. Head right until the steep left-leading crack can be reached. Follow the crack - strenuous - and when 3m before a corner, pull up a flake and crack in the wall above it to a ledge. Take the corner above to finish. © Rockfax
