Good photo and nice conditions! Scene of my longest ever fall... my axes ripped at the top of the pitch and I ended up lower than my belayer!

looks like good ice to take screws on the right,i take it you never placed any ? must have been a pant filler on the way down.

It was in Feb 85 and it didn't look quite like that. I did place a couple of screws, but nothing higher up.

I seem to remember that we only had drive-ins, which basically meant one hand to hold the tube and the other to wleld the hammer. So you could place one before things got steep and when it did, you just went until the angle eased off again for the next one. On the Wand I remember Jon just going and going. Firstly upwards, then gathering pace downwards.
