First go at aid climbing. No one is actually belaying. We had about 20 feet of rope tied off between each person which meant we all climbed simultaneously keeping 2 or 3 pegs, bolts, bongs and various bits of tat between us. The picture is taken when we are just below the roof. Note the "big mountain boot and walking breeches" mentality we had in those days.

Well I was 17 so yes he would have been 15 or 16. Time flies!!
