Pete sent this on to me ...
Note the attire of the times – breeches, plimsolls, heavy shirt with long sleeves for waist belaying, hemp waistline with Tarbuck knot, Viking hawser laid nylon rope, slings carried over the shoulder for runners, two runners on chockstones placed whilst leading. A little different than today!

And I seem to recall it was only a VS at that!

Almost exactly what I started with - apart from the biggest, clumpiest boots imaginable. Two runners a pitch? Well protected!
And I always thought BLC was VS...

VS with a horrible landing if I recall correctly.

It's pretty clear that this chap and his second haven't passed the SPA so should we really be publicising examples of such rope work? :-)

Brilliant - still a tough little number, great photo...

Yes, should have said. Great photo - really captures the era.
