The photo shows Ken on pitch two [the crux]. As you can see protection was poor, but only considered HVS at that time! Super climbing though. Photo taken by Eric Marr.

I remember doing this route...as one long mega pitch, 60m in total i think!!

Was widely regarded as the hardest HVS in the Lakes, in the '70s.

Evocative. Did it in '78. Hardest HVS I'd done. An unforgiving 2nd pitch requiring a steady head. Wonder if wires/cams make a difference? None for me in those days. Modern softies etc etc.
