Geoff and my older brother Eric had discovered these unclimbed rocks the previous summer. They decided to try their hand at rock climbing...teaching themselves, using an old sisal tow rope and fitting climbing nails to their leather walking boots [copied from library books]. Looking back they were remarkably competent and safe. They always seemed able to reverse a climb if it became too difficult. I was able to accompany them in 1958...learning many skills which still prove useful today.
