I climbed the original route with Mike Tooke in early 2014 and spotted the possibility of a more direct approach. We returned a few weeks later adding this alternative. The climbing on the Direct Start [5b], I feel is more in keeping with the original finish [crux]. Its worth noting that the first 4m of this variation makes a good boulder problem in its own right...escape left and down.
