Really like this - better for being mono too.

When I studied photography I was always told to get the whites... white, and the blacks... black, and let the mid-tones take care of themselves. A good action photo let down by poor editing.

I didn't study photography. Good photo, have a 5.

His arms look weird.

A great photo, taken and edited on a phone.
Have to disagree with you Sean, if we all followed the rules we'd have never moved forward.

Sean, what if there is nothing 100% reflectance across the visual spectrum (i.e. white) or 0% reflectance (i.e. black) in the image?

I can understand Sean, whatever the reason, the image just seems a bit muted; yet it is of good interest.

Thanks for all the comments and votes guys!

Just to provide context to what Sean meant, here's a copy of the image with the black point moved. http://i.imgur.com/xyNYJby.jpg

I thinks the action, position and framing are great but the climbers legs are too dark. It is such a great photo that working it a bit with some software would be well worth it

Fabulous photograph, takes me back to the 70's with it's mood

Just seen the link Andrew, and it looks infinitely better with the correct contrast. There are times when you have a mid tonal rage in an image in overcast light such as snow-scenes, and misty foggy conditions, but this was not one of them. If I recall, Ansel Adams 'Zone System' had 11 tones for B&W exposure. Finally, my original comment was meant to be constructive and positive.
