This is the best shot. There was a recent thread on this http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=160401
With recent large rockfalls on the Dru the classic north face route has got a serious reputation and may not be safe at the moment. We experienced good conditions on our ascent, with no stonefall. It was quite icy with the pitches below the niche requiring a bit of A0/A1 faggotry.
Its definately worth checking with the OHM in Chamonix regarding the condition of the route and the descent. The descent was serious with lots of short diagonal abseils.

thanks james,
i'll see how it goes - if not the north face then we might end up trying one of the south facing routes. want to climb there before it collapses totally ;-)
