One of the photos which at the time inspired me to really get into winter climbing

I heard a story that Bill March abseiled down the previous summer and placed a couple of long pegs (leaving them sticking well out) as runners for his winter ascent. Dont know if it's true or not.

One of my early failures with two MacInnes terrors & crap Russian screws . Even now with modern axes & BD screws it still feels steep & exposed
