I remember it was raining quite hard. We were desperate to climb and thought the rain would make the route, which we did in big boots and carry sacks, more adventurous!

It was definitely dry when we started. First couple of pitches OK, then started to spot on 40 ft corner. Then by time I was leading off diagonally left (I don't think we put cagoules on until then) on easier ground on the upper part of the Great Slab, it got steadily heavier, quite heavy by end of that pitch. I remember there was a definite sense of urgency to get up the climb before the rock got too wet.
