James (Brother of Armstead) is 3 from right, Armstead might be next to him, (left as you look at the photo, or Armstead took the photo (?). Is this Gimmer crag in the back ground?

I'd guess looking at the age of Armstead and his brother James it would be in the early to mid 1930's.
