Look as if they belong to a roadsweeper.

Actually it's a figure of eight on the bight, with a double rolling stopper knot. Requires 30m of rope. Used for towing oil rigs.

Keith, roadsweepers perform a valuable service. Rock climbing on the other hand, is a self indulgent and ultimately selfish activity. Regards, E.D.
