Was up Ben Cruachan with Oban MRT last night helping out with the queenies beacon and we were all expecting to see the Ben Nevis beacon, beautifully clear night, the Ben was totally visible (along with the Cuillin, Jura etc...) but we never saw a beacon on Ben Nevis??? Did it happen??

after entering some publicity about the beacon the JMT decided to do their own thing and took the decision that the beacon was a man made intrusion into the wild landscape that is the Ben so they abandoned the idea of a beacon and have built a 2m high cairn instead, complete with a commemorative capping stone on top
