Every day on the way to and from work I drive past the big red sandstone cliff at Stockport on the M60, and wonder whether anyone has ever climbed on it. Probably not, because it would be highly unpleasant, right next to the motorway, and in any case the Highways Agency probably wouldn't let you. But it has got me wondering, too, whether anyone has done any climbing on road cuttings in general. They're often pretty impressive bits of rock. I know Dawes climbed on the Mankini Way walls when he lived in Manchester, but they're man-made.
