I lived near Ravenstonedale for a while, and you're in a bit of a hole there unfortunately, though there's a fair bit surrounding. Nearest options are Badger rock the far side of Kendal, Jackdaw Scar and the Hoff to the north. To the south the limestone venues like Hutton Roof, Trowbarrow and Woodwell. Bit further north are the sandstone crags at Armathwaite and Carrock fell. And Not forgetting the mighty gritstone venue of Lops Wath the far side of Kirkby Stephen...

In reply to Adam Long: unfortunately, Adam, The Hoff is currently off limits. There is a new FRCC guide available (Eden & South Lakes Limestone) which does deal with local bouldering to some extent. You forgot(?) to mention the 'mighty limestone venue' of Middle Busk Scar http://www.frcc.co.uk/crag_print.asp?crag_id=411 which is possibly closest to Orton. It never made it into the guide (which perhaps says something) but it's pleasant enough in its limited way. Windmore End http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/crag.php?id=1637 is not too far away and might suit but I'm not a boulderer so would not know.
