I am a keen amateur photographer, taking lots of outdoor photos. At present I generally use a compact Panasonic Lumix which has an excellent zoom. This has done me well but now has numerous dust spots so it's time for a change. I have a DSLR which I take out occasionally, but I only really want to use this for photographing birds in flight, which I find impossible with the compact because there is no viewfinder.
I've been looking at bridge cameras with a good zoom but there don't seem to be any with optical view finders and I don't know how a digital viewfinder would cope for flying birds (especially in bright conditions where it's really hard to see the lens).
Can anyone advise please? I want an excellent zoom, wide angle lens, and the best viewfinder. I definitely want a bridge camera.

I have a Nikon Coolpix 510 and I take quite a bit outdoors but I would only consider myself a "happy snapper". Zoom is 42x and the viewfinder works. I can see flying birds with the viewfinder, there are bits and bobs here https://www.facebook.com/stephen.j.murphy.9/media_set?set=a.101513880310161...
