Which self amalgamating tape is the good stuff? I have forgotten which one is the best. Silicon splits too easily and the screw fix stuff is too thick and too low friction.

I want to avoid paying a premium for the pleasure of a climbing manufacturers logo.

Answer maybe here? http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=541471

I've been using the screwfix stuff, quite easy to regulate the thickness by stretching it when you wind it on and have found grip ok.

Cheers, I have now discovered how to remove the backing tape and all is groovy. What a dumbass! To be fair it was really tricky to get the first bit off.

Starting to cool off mid week. Fingers firmly crossed.

Cover the shaft in climbing tape, coat with various coats of plastdip. Job done.

I've recently experimented with stixall which is a silicon adhesive and can create the same sort of stuff the high class grivel tools have. It's pretty grippy, until it gets wet....
