In reply to UKC News: Pretty fashionable route.

How many ascents is that since Savage did it a couple of months ago? 5ish?

Anyone know how many ascents it had before that?

Nice one! I agree with your comment about the fact that more people are climbing these routes does not mean they have been getting any easier. We should be giving ourselves a bit of credit that the general sport-climbing standard in this country is rising and this is down to people putting in a lot of hard work and training in a way that was only done by a very few in the past. The fact that routes like Unjustified, True North, Bat Route and Cry Freedom are now getting relatively frequent ascents is because of this (not because they've all suddenly become 8bs!). Also the confidence derived from people making ascents is inspiring others to try routes that for years most people were just walking past thinking they were too hard.

In reply to brunomarks: This is very true, hate it when a hard route gets a number of ascents in a short length of time! and instantly everyone thinks it cant be that grade! surely its just people getting stronger and more confident!
 Richard Hall 19 Jul 2011
In reply to MorganPreecey: No one said anything about True North not being 8c. As far as i was aware the only talk of downgrades was Alan Cassidy saying that Unjustified was 8b+. Savage said True North was a bit soft but he says that about everything.

In reply to Richard Hall: He thought The Ripper was 'Hard 8b'. But apart from that, you seem to be right.

Matt - well done!
