Personally I'm not sure climbing magazines/print is value for money but certainly face book/social media is useful.
I can defo vouch for print not being good value for money, when I started my business I advertised in the local (and nearby) press, it was costly, and I did not receive one single booking from it. I stuck with it for a while, but in the end saw it was not worth it.
Agreed, Facebook is very good, as is other social media.
