I placed gear but then fell off after getting a hand on the top. Had another couple of goes but similar outcome. Mike then led on my gear. I then successfully led on my gear. Sequence: Firth the right and then both hands on the nose to the right of the crack; Left hand jam as high as possible up the crack; Right heel hook; Right hand reach for the "jug"; Left knee in crack; Left hand up to layback the nose of the crack just below the top; Move right foot to under the body; Right hand up left to layback the nose of the crack. Epic, but brilliant.

Wasted all my energy getting scared, despite having more gear in one crack then I normally place on a route, on the first attempt on the lead and then couldn't do it because I was knackered. A shame because it was totally doable as I showed when I seconded it 30 minutes later and it would've been nice to get an E1. Maybe next time.

Ground up. Katherine (patiently) belayed. Stiiv Seconded. Must have taken about 10 slumps onto the gear before finally mounting the roof, with pumped tunnel vision wildly screamed/slapped for the breaks and tried to mantle direct. Fell off. Lowered off. Sulked. Mark nearly cleaned my gear but gave it one last attempt, leaving all my ironmongery helped. Went easy enough. HVS seems fair with bomber gear and a short safe fall. Stiff and very burly in 5b.
