32m. The most popular route in the quarry, and amongst the best HVS routes in the Peak, up the magnificent long corner. It has a crucial central layback/bridging groove and tricky final roof. It can be split into three shorter pitches if required, though is usually done as one huge run-out. © ROCKFAX

Fantastic climb, which intimidated me by the shear length. From the first resting stance the layback is far easier than I would have thought and you can bridge a little. Again the move out from the roof was not too bad either. Having said all of that, my heart was still in my mouth most of the time!

Very well protected. Apart from a couple of layback moves in the low crack you can pretty much be in a bridged rest the whole way up the route. Warm up those calves.

Awesome! Favourite lead to date. Put in a nut at the bottom of the layback section and proceeded to kick it out on my way past, leaving myself exposed to a pretty massive fall if everything hadn't gone to plan, which all just added to the elation when I got to the ledge. The upper section was easier but still interesting.

Best route of the trip? Stunner of a route, enjoyed every moment, felt utterly nails for HVS but finger locks and crappy foot work must be to blame. Had a bit of a moment committing to the crux but such cool climbing once you get moving.

Not anywhere near as pumpy as expected. Possible to bridge and place high gear before the layback. Then its only one or two moves before things ease on solid sharp finger jugs in the crack. Intimidating, but its all there! Ace route.

After the triumphs the day before came the tribulations. Gt Nth Rd, rested on gear leading p1 (too strenuous), Gt Portland St (couldn't do the mantelshelf without falling off - needed a v. tight rope), Embankment 4, fell off (wrong handed) but clean next go.

Another good route. Getting dark so couldn't really see footholds but as its a layback mostly didn't matter. First time at Millstone-great crag! Enjoyable evening climbing with Chris and Pat. Great to get on some harder routes and push myself. Head a bit more sorted after tonight. Routes reminded me why I love climbing!

Colin led p1, brought me up on a tight rope through the layback. Led through to below the roof, downclimbed to regain composure (exposure!!) , then led through cleanly past the roof and topped out. Blow me but my Dad(80) turned up and witnessed a rare HVS5a lead.
