One of the best routes I've ever done. there's gear in the first crack but it very quickly becomes irrelevant. Trust your feet and you'll be fine.

Did this the other year on 2nd. Really nice. Very steady climbing, felt fine and confident all the way. Good foot placements all the way up. Its just that one move at the top. Actually managed to get a decent looking sliding nut in the big pocket near the top. Wasn't able to give it a good yank to see if was seated okay but Kev did when he came up and thought it was bomber. Looking forward to doing it again, probably wont bother with a rope though.

Charley's lead. Just as nice as I remembered from last year. Charley found a placement for a ball nut in the large pocket at the top. Will get round to leading this myself sometime. Friction on this route is awesome despite heavy traffic.

In the meantime, I dallied with seconding Dan on "Long John Slab"maybe 5-8 years ago but failed to get off the ground [I had seconded it clean maybe 5-10 years ago]. Tony found Synopsis a bit too tenuous after 10-15 feet.Valkyrie was occupied so I selected Sunset Slab as a relaxing alternative.

Finally done it, after many many years of waiting and I was pleased with it! Found three pieces of marginal but not-too-bad gear at the upper section, although standard HVS leaders may not carry such gear (only one of them available from my gear rack). Therefore, IMHO, though this is still a runout route, it is not an unprotected route!

Lisa led this, and as soon as she had finished, a huge storm absolutely drenched us all! More rain than I've seen for a long time, lisa was left belaying Mike in a puddle with the climb having a stream down it. I was determined to come up it so said it would be character building for her to sit there, and get completely saturated. Surprising how little friction you need for something like this, was literally water streaming down it and it felt pretty secure, probably wouldn't do so on lead though!

FAbulous route. No real gear above half way. Feels balancy but straightforward. The last few runout moves are incredibly delicate. A fall from the top would be certain injury/death.

Bottled out of soloing the route and traversed off. Then Simon arrived and I led it with no problems whatsoever - bizarre, considering there is no gear apart from a low nut runner! The start is the technical crux. The top is relatively easy and positive, but requires a cool head.
