Went into to do this the previous evening with a bit too much psyche. Both got to the bottom and both realised we had abbed without a half rope. Big scary free hanging prussik session out. Idiots. The got involved in helping some other lads haul their mate out of the Boulder Ruckle on their ab rope. Next day found the climb to be Proper Ruckle stuff. Thuggy on massive holds. Good lead by Johnny this.

What a route !!! Looks really intimidating, but once you get going the jugs and gear keep flowing ! Most all of the first section can be bridged (taking all the strain off the arms). Couple of strenuous moves above the tat. Save a bit of strength for the top groove, as whilst juggy it's still steep. Both pegs are still in situ (although quite rusty).

Brilliant climbing all the way. A few tenuous moves here and there. 2-3m runouts in places as I was afraid I might run out of quick draws! Ben was very wise when he suggested leaving the big hexes for emergancies. I only placed one under a minor stress, but I was very glad I hadn't used it in an easy position earlier. Rope got snagged when pulling it up to the belay stake and sent three massive blocks down the cliff, thankfully Ben got out the way and there was no one else around!! The top is very loose, test all blocks with care before stepping and pulling.

Took forever, laced but led cleanly. Just about the most knackered I have ever been on reaching the top. I had no grip left in my fingers whatsoever. Later we couldn't retrieve the ab rope from Marmolata butress. The metal swaging had stuck. Syd abd down, and then shunted all the way back up.
