A slight variation - went up to the pinnacle belay of Overhanging bastion, then downclimbed to get back on route, missing the hand traverse

Linking pitches, as expected produced horrendous rope drag! First pitch was the best, with great exposure, gear and airy moves. Overshot the hand traverse on pitch two, instead climbing up to the pinnacle on Overhanging Bastion. Final slab was very mossy and had water running down it. Thankfully this pitch was pretty easy!

Nice and varied, but beware of the loose block hold on the first crack on p3 - I avoided it when leading, which made it somewhat harder. Jane used it for seconding, and it didn't come off... lovely weather and nice view.

Led p2 and p3. P1 is nice, p2 nice and easy traverse, p3 dirty with loose holds, p4 nice and easy slab. Major faff at belay at the end of p2 due to not realising its shared with Overhanging Bastion. Another faff at the belay ledge at end of p3 due to exposed undersoil (has a tree fallen down?). Overall, a mixed bag. Wouldnt rush back to do it again.

Nice route. The link pitches are very enjoyable as well as the 4b pitches. Rubble and mud at the top of P3 was pretty bad - care is needed with rope management to avoid showering the bottom of the crag with rocks

P3 felt stiff at VS, stop moaning about the loose hold, I pulled on it hard (on second) and it didn't come off, therefore it's fine!

Lead p2 and p4. Top crack on p3 was very soily as half of the grassy platform (belay ledge) at top of p3 had fallen down. Some climbers passing at the base of the crag earlier in the day, mentioned it looked like there had been a rockfall and major gardening session going on, and now we knew why. Must have been 2 foot wide, 15 long and 5 foot worth depth of ledge consisting of soil and rocks had gone south.

The big hold on Pitch 3 is really loose. I used it on lead, but was seriously unhappy about it. Looking through the notes, I'm surprised it's stuck around as long as it has. Regardless this was a fun route. Pitch 3 is the crux, but I thought 2 was the most enjoyable, a fantastic exposed traverse. Pitch 4 was a good yomp up the slab into the sunshine. Lovely.

The slanting ledge was a bit awkward. The traverse (hidden below end of the grassy ledge) was airy but well-endowed with small ledges and good flake hand-holds. I used the loose rock as a hold for the hardest move on pitch 3.

Superb varied climb - awkward slabs, flakes, steep cracks, bits of tree. Brilliant third pitch with slightly awkward move onto slab then steep crack climbing to finish. Went down the north gully descent - nasty. Dave led first 3 pitches, I led last one (easy slab climbing).
