Moved together. Unfortunately had to back off this just before the crux pitch because the pair in front of us moved slowly up till then and then sat underneath the crux for 40 minutes while we froze. Once our hands and feet went numb we decided we weren't in a fit condition to climb any more and so headed back. They still hadn't started by the time we got off the ridge so it was right decision. We probably should have pushed in front of them as soon as they stopped but we were too polite and since this was our first winter climb of this type we didn't really know the rules. Live and learn.

Definitely II/I as it's easy to escape to the easy ground to the right. Had to rescue a couple of walkers who'd got stuck. They decided to scramble the hard bit instead of following the easy path round to the side. We then pitched that bit, however it would have been soloable or ideal moving together ground. The rest was soloed. Lovely conditions, lots of snow and clear blue skies. Finished it off by walking round to Cairn Gorm and summiting that.

Roped together and descended along the top hardest part of the ridge, then drop down in to corie Loachan to get out of the 100mph winds, tiring walk back to the car.
