I attempted this on 2009-01-11, but backed off immediately before the crux (escaped to and finished on Grim Wall). This time I lead it in one big pitch fairly fast (as the time is pressing on). The traverse move immediately after the peg was a hard 5b move for me, as I shortie can't reach the crucial side-pull, whereas most people, including my seconds, (easily!) can.

Glad to see everyone agreeing it's HVS! Tricky enough route finding. First pitch very nice to second despite wandering line; led the second pitch in howling wind and rain, which made the crux move past the peg feel pretty dicey, to say the least, and the last move incredibly scary! Not a good wet weather route.

Solid HVS. Never VS... Lead P2 and had a wobbler on it. Didn't have the right gear to back up the peg so took me ages to commit to the move past it. I went right using a nubbin for my foot really far right and a finger lock for the left hand and a tiny crimp for the right hand! Desperate!

Intimidated yet fascinated by the photo of Ron James on it in his 1970 guidebook, we then watched Chris Bonington climb it, stopping mid crux to blow his nose! We knew there had to be holds! and thus inspired we climbed this fabulous route, blowing our noses on cue of course!!.
