not entirely sure which route we did, forgot the guidebook and didn't fancy the dark, polished "standard" route. just made our way up past a massive flake offering a bit of chimney-esque climbing, easy but slightly bold

With German Alex, as he said we left the guide book behind, 1st pitch went up the crack on the oppostie of the Needle to the really polished crack (Wasdale crack?), second pitch from spike belay worthy of Stoney. Not sure about the grade would have thought S4a more appropriate, even with the down climb, though alex thought HS 4b.

Led to shoulder but then waited 30 mins for the rain to clear; by the time Owen and then Jen had 2nd'd pitch 1 was too cold to continue. Good situation and historic but not a great climb

Allan lead 1st pitch & I lead 2nd pitch. Really polished and tricky to get up. No finese, used knees but got there. have to wrap rope round over hang and tie on to it for belay, weird!
