Very good indeed. And not as polished as I had expected. Can highly recommend.

Top pitch, polished as hell and a bugger to get back down again, first pitch was nice mind. Got the tick now though, and there was a decent view!

A very worthwhile route of a super classic landmark. This route is a lot less polished than the Wasdale Crack start to the shoulder. Used a left foot mantle to get onto the top block to much relief. Extremely polished and nothing that great for protection on the very top. Was told about a small crack about a foot below the back edge from the climb that takes a 0.5 cam and used a sling round a slight notch on the top to set up belay. Hairy getting down after lowering my second. Didn't fancy the methods mentioned in the various guides. Used a combination of abseil from the slight notch and down climbing. Hate to say it for national heritage reasons but maybe a bolt and chain in the top would be a good idea here. Abseiled from the knotted ropes and rusty maillons back off the shoulder (Not recommended)

not entirely sure which route we did, forgot the guidebook and didn't fancy the dark, polished "standard" route. just made our way up past a massive flake offering a bit of chimney-esque climbing, easy but slightly bold
GermanAlex - AltLd - 15/Oct/11 with Brannock

With German Alex, as he said we left the guide book behind, 1st pitch went up the crack on the oppostie of the Needle to the really polished crack (Wasdale crack?), second pitch from spike belay worthy of Stoney. Not sure about the grade would have thought S4a more appropriate, even with the down climb, though alex thought HS 4b.

Led to shoulder but then waited 30 mins for the rain to clear; by the time Owen and then Jen had 2nd'd pitch 1 was too cold to continue. Good situation and historic but not a great climb

Allan lead 1st pitch & I lead 2nd pitch. Really polished and tricky to get up. No finese, used knees but got there. have to wrap rope round over hang and tie on to it for belay, weird!
