Fiacaill Buttress* IV 5
[Jim Higgins post Houdini, Fiacaill Buttress, 3 kb]A route that makes the most of the Buttress overlooking Fiacaill Couloir. Start up the Couloir for 40mts before breaking out onto the buttress. Climb steep mixed groud, before arriving at the base of the top tower. Head left and finish up a good, if somewhat spicy chimney.

Did a direct start to the left of Fiacaill Colouir more in keeping with the grade. Lead p2 and easy bit after chimney. A lot of slabby powder and turf 50/50 , but good climbing and well worth doing.

Turf frozen but little snow on the route. Good finish via the chimney

Bit escapable to start but two good middle pitches to the tower. Tried to go left on ledges and fell of hurting ankle and retreated, felt stupidly hard for IV,5 or maybe I'm out of practice... (was cause i tried to climb the hudini exit)
andymoin - AltLd dnf - 29/Dec/11 with Warren

A bit contrived and escapable. Strom force winds & no goggles = blind abseiling & walk out.
