feck I can't imagine Scotland every having Qui Qui in that nick in May nowadays, You're lucky to see ice like that on the Ben in May!

That day we did it 6 times with various partners as the ice was so good, gorms were full of powder and wind! All the boys walked in and out and came to Newtonmore!

That's not Scotland's answer to roadside ice. It took me 15 mins to walk up there. 3 days later we stumbled across Corrieshalloch (NH 20341 78035), just 12-13 miles off from Ullapool. We were belaying literally on a crash barrier about 6-8 ft from the road. That's what I'd call 'roadside'.

There are so many places for roadside ice, see Kishorn ice, You can climb anywhere, if conditions are out. Corrieshalloch has been well used for many years, by myself and friends since mid 70's it is even signposted! We did not used to report routes then to keep the numbers of climbers on it down! Very selfish but you did not often see many on the routes, is it better now!
