UKClimbing is proud to announce the category finalists for the 2024 Photography Awards, in partnership with the Exposure Climbing Photography Festival.

Each shortlisted photograph was chosen through user voting during 2024.

Now, for the final, all previous votes have been reset — and it's your turn to decide which images will claim victory in their categories. Cast your votes for the Category Winners by 12th September.

Overall Winners - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place - will be selected by Sam Pratt and Dan Geraghty, and announced on the 19th September, the start date of this year's edition of Exposure Climbing Photography Festival.

Fantastic shots as ever, but how many shots here are from amateur photographers? Maybe the pros should have their own category.

19 Aug

That's a very blurry line to draw.

There's very few photographers who have it as their main or only job.

Amazing photos.

19 Aug

I think it would be fairer if there was only one entry per photographer; their top scoring shot perhaps.

Fair.

What I mean is less about the photographer and more about the context - ie I think a photo taken in a professional context such as for a guidebook or publicity shots for an outdoor company is different from one taken "in the moment". I wouldn't want to penalise a professional photographer who took a great shot whilst just out climbing with friends.

Also a good idea - on the basis that a pro would probably have a far larger portfolio of competition-worthy entries to choose from.
