Finally found a home in Leeds in 1997, after playing around with bigger (Birmingham) and smaller (Ripon) places. I have a degree in Physics (Cambridge), and therefore tried careers in bar-work to sort out the ivory tower problem, then as a trainee Maths teacher (Bradford) to put something back into society. Teaching is awful. I left and became a computer programmer (Harrogate). Happily, I'm very good indeed at that. It's nice when life works out.

Ex-hippy, vegan when in the UK but usually just veggie abroad due to impossibility of veganism in, say, France (where they do actually have a word for "vegan" but choose to ignore it totally). Hardcore psychedelic black metallist and dub-merchant.

I've finally accepted that bouldering can be fun in its own right, and is not just something I do when I can't find a partner to hold the rope. Yes, I actually enjoy it now.

The trad/sport grades quoted to the right are personal bests. My glory days are behind me now (or perhaps they are yet to come....), and these days I'm lucky to flail up HVS or F6b without falling. Bouldering seems to be my main area of improvement at the moment, although this surely will be translated before too long into trad and sport glory.

After a long lay-off, in spring 2006 I decided it was time to start taking this climbing lark seriously again. In spring 2010 I decided that same thing once more. Tcha'ahhh, it's almost as if I'm not a regular climber any more. However, I do still climb. Climbing is still the ultimate training object of all the other pretend exercise I do.

Best Climbing Experience
Getting back into it properly, after a long lay-off, realising I still loved it. Font helped that a lot.

None of the photos to do with climbers called Greg on this site is anything to do with me, except the one on this profile, which was taken halfway through a GWAR gig in March 2007. You should see the one from the end.
