Parasympathetic

Email User

Almost exclusively a free-soloist; I enjoy the simplicity and fluid movement without the clutter of ropes and gear. At the risk of quoting a cliche, I enjoy "living in the moment" but don't hold that too closely to it's metaphorical roots; simply put, I like the way soloing sets everything else to the back of the mind and allows one to concentrate solely on the climbing. That said, I don't solo at my limit and tend to reserve pushing my climbing ability to bouldering. For the most part I climb around the VD/S/HS grades both short and longer mountain routes; however, I occasionally venture into VS/HVS/E1 area. Often, though, these are routes that have limited protection anyway and a low technical grade.

Grades are of little concern to me, the movement, scenery and just being out at the crags and in the hills is the reason I climb and can't imagine being without it. Some of the best day I've ever had are more down to situation than grade; long routes in a fantastic mountain setting are really special.

One day I'll begin the slow process of updating my paper-based logbook and add them onto here; for now though, my logbook represents my climbing as of 16/05/13.

Best Climbing Experience
I think long easy solos in the hills always rank really highly; freely climbing in a mountain situation topping out high in the hills. Just about as good as it gets..
