Health Update: Had a series of Operations as a result of Ulcerative Colitis that no longer responded to medication. And then suffered a bone health problem in my right hip joint - again, probably a result of the UC - and have just (Sept 2017) had to have a Total Hip Replacement. I can walk again, which is good, so I might be able to get out on the crags to have a look around. Not sure I will be able to do any climbing, but I am now able to make an effort to get fit...

After being a long haired goth/hippy for the last 20yrs or so, I've recently gone for the convict look. I play synth in a 80s Synthpop covers band called Synthmachine, but still play guitar quite a lot, and quite badly..
I'm a lapsed vegetarian, probably more of a Pescatrian, nowadays.

I'm partial to the odd drop of single malt whisky, Laphroaig being a firm favourite and have been known to knock back the odd beer or two, but it has to be proper beer. Ooh, and I can be a pedantic git if you're speling and punktuashun R appalllin . . .

Best Climbing Experience
Near the top of Cadair Idris (Sept 2002) waiting for Pete, Cyril, John, Tim (the Grey), Wingnut, and Captain Paranoia to climb up (I'd walked), with clouds blowing over the ridge into the cwm containing Llyn Cau, and with the sun behind me, I saw my shadow on the clouds, which was immediately surrounded by a halo made of rainbow... And I didn't have my camera (sob)!

Favourite Climbing-Related Discussion Topic
Computers, ha! Look, I'll dabble in anything climbing related, read lots of books (about climbing) and lots of climbing related stuff on this site.

Interests Outside Climbing
Books, guitars, music, Terry Pratchett, films of the "BladeRunner", "The Crow", "Stigmata", "Blade", "The Fifth Element", "Kill Bill" ilk, Greenpeace, and I like to make computer generated artwork using a free program called POVRay...

I play synths in a band called Synthmachine. I record some of my own music under the name of The Delilah Ritual.

And linux is still the way forward in computing.

About My Photography
Sometimes I submit photos purely for informational reasons, to illustrate a point. Then some git votes 1 for them. It's disheartening.

Anything Else We Should Know
Been ill since July 2006, which has almost completely curtailed my outdoor climbing ambitions - and outdoor climbing - for the moment. Had, on Jan 12th 2009, an operation to remove my large intestine :-( and a couple of follow up ops 18months or so later.

And then just before my 50th birthday, part of my right hip bone collapsed - allegedly Avascular Necrosa - but probably related to poor vitamin and mineral absorption. Need to have a Total Hip Replacement.

Health Update: Have just (Sept 2017) had to have a Total Hip Replacement on my right hip. I can walk again, which is good, so I might be able to get out on the crags to have a look around. Not sure I will be able to do any climbing, but I am now able to make an effort to get fit...
