126 photographs were submitted. The prizes? Photographs used will be paid at £25 each or £50 for a front cover shot. Four copies of the book will be given to the best UKClimbing.com entries as voted on by readers of UKC, whether they are used or not.

Mike Lates, one of the authors of the new SMC Skye guidebook, announces the winners.

Many thanks to everyone who entered or voted in the competition. Many entrants, not just the winners, will be contacted via UKC by the SMC in the next few weeks to see if their photos can be used or catalogued by the club.

We were very unfortunate with conditions in May with cold temperatures and too many wet days but dry conditions have prevailed throughout June with far more action going on (SEE VIDEO).

The SMC would still be grateful for any action photos that climbers manage to take over the coming weeks. Do not send photos but please contact Grahame Nicoll (g.nicoll@virgin.net) for details of the format in which images should be sent. Here's my winners with some qualifying comments.

'Halcyon Days' from Charlie Hill - a unanimous winner that may have pushed the boundaries of an "action shot" but please don't photoshop in any 'action' on the same theme! Charlie's shots of the Chasm and 'Starting Skyeman' were inspiring to the lovers of fine rock scenery.

'Vertigo on the TD Gap' from Dan Arkle - a very high quality action shot that captures a whole load of different aspects of this famous part of the Cuillin. Thank you Dan.

'Cioch Grooves' from Chris Craggs - Chris's shot 'As An Arrow' was voted for by more people but 'Cioch Grooves' is a classic "space beneath the feet" shot. The Yard-arm rock was a famous landmark on Cioch Direct and Cioch Grooves until it's demise in 2003.

'Northern Cuillin' from Wee Jamie - Sadly there weren't more action shots from Jamie. The Cuillin are frequently gob-smacking in winter and his superb collection certainly gives a good taste of this.
