The Asylum Jacket is one of a host of specialist new cragging pieces from Rab’s Rock Range Designed specifically as a belay or bouldering jacket, the Asylum is filled with over 360g (size medium) of RDS-certified 650 fill power European duck down, making it ideal for those chilly autumn and winter conditions. Cut for a comfortable, regular fit, the Asylum has room for a number of extra layers for those truly freezing, high-friction days and has a down-filled hood to help keep out the worst of the wind.
Inspired by Rab’s local gritstone outcrops, the Asylum features a 2-way front zip to allow easy belay access while you’re trying to keep warm at exposed, windy venues. The outer fabric is constructed from Pertex® Classic, a strong abrasion-resistant fabric built to stand up to the wear of being stuffed into the top of a boulder pad or rubbing past boulders on the walk-in.
Even the Asylum’s pockets have been designed with climbing in mind; featuring a warm lining on the external pockets with enough room to accommodate finger tape, brushes and a host of other essentials. And for those not too put off by the smell, you can even keep your shoes warm next to your body using the two internal pockets.
