Overview

Very recently having a second renovation adding a much larger twin room, Casa Quiros now sleeps 5/6. There is a double room,a new large twin bedroom a single room and a fold down sofa if needed.

Owned by the author of the climbing guide for the region, Roca Verde, (www.rocaverdeclimbing.com) Casa Quirós, is an amazing spot for climbers. It is within walking distance of one of the best crags in Asturias, Quirós, which has nearly 300 sports routes spread over 22 sectors and it's also only 15 minutes drive from Teverga, another huge climbing area, with 30 sectors and nearly 750 routes.

A pretty, traditional stone-built Asturian house, Casa Quirós has been renovated to a high standard. The south facing house is situated in Aciera, a picturesque traditional Asturian village, in the heart of the parque natural de Las Ubiñas-La Mesa.

Surrounded by beautiful peaks and passes the area is perfect for all types of outdoor activity including; road biking, mountain biking, trail running, hiking, fishing and birdwatching. The road and mountain biking, straight from the house, are both awesome - the 'Queen stage' of La Vuelta de Espana passes underneath. For littler legs the 45km long, mostly flat, Senda del Oso (bear path - yes, we even have bears!) wends its way along the foot of the valley beneath the village.

There's private parking next to the house and Wifi as well. See more about Casa Quirós herewww.casaquiros.co.uk

We stayed at Casa Quiros for 4 weeks in May/Jun 2016. The property sits in the Quiros village in Asturias, surrounded by a lush green landscape of mountains and a lake and a 15 minute walk away from the nearest crag area, where there are plenty of routes for all ability levels. Many other nearby climbing areas are easily accessible by car and the local roads are quiet and in good condition. Our stay was comfortable in a recently renovated traditional house with a well equipped kitchen, a washing machine, plenty of power sockets, working wifi, DVD’s, a small climbing gym for warm ups, finger workouts or pull ups, a barbecue and a balcony with a great view. Richie and Mary are very generous are thoughtful hosts who made sure we always had everything we needed. Travellers looking for other activities will have many options too: bicycle trails, surfing, walks including the impressive Cares route, typical food and seafood restaurants, historical towns and cave painting sites are all within a few hours drive. We are very grateful for the opportunity to explore this fascinating area! Thanks Richie and Mary and we hope to stop by again some day.

What a great place to stay and climb! Fabulous variety of grades and styles within a 20 minute walk, and once you’ve run through those 22 sectors and ticked all 300 routes, then it’s only a short drive to get to the next few dozen crags. For off days there’s trail walking, hill running or, for the super fit, lunches of the day at the local restaurants. (OK, so it’s 8 EU for three gigantic courses, but they do give you a bottle of wine for that). And evenings needn't be wasted either: there’s a climbing gym underneath the house. If you do run out of ideas, then Richie and Mary will soon sort you out with new routes and new bars, but just one word of warning. Don’t let Richie pour you a cider. Very messy business.

We stayed at Casa Quiros at the end of September this year (2015) and certainly echo all the very positive comments already posted. The house is in an amazing rural location, with stunning views, and a really peaceful place to spend time when you’re not on the crags. The local crags are brilliant, well-bolted, unpolished, solid limestone. We also enjoyed travelling a little further afield through fantastic mountain scenery to climb in Leon. Richie and Mary were very easy hosts; Richie even joined us for an afternoon on the crags at Teverga, which was excellent. Late September was a great time weather-wise, sunny but not too hot and still light at 8 o’clock. It is an easy place to get to by car from the local Asturias/Oviedo airport and a short flight time from the UK. We would definitely recommend a trip to Casa Quiros and if you’ve never heard of Rocaverde then go there and find out what you’re missing.

Really enjoyed our stay at Casa Quiros - its a great place to stay in a fantastic and quiet area. The House - really well fitted and comfortable, with a great terrace and patio/garden to enjoy your evenings and rest days! Bathroom and kitchen both very modern and a lovely place to hang out! The Climbing - Brilliant. Hundreds of quality routes on fantastic rock right through the grade spectrum. All angles and styles accounted for, although being good on slabs and vert faces will be useful. The Owners - Richie and Mary were great - really enjoyed all the advice on where to climb and route recommendations. Thanks!

We stayed at Casa Quiros for two weeks in April. The house is very comfortable and well-appointed, with a good kitchen and really nice bedrooms. There is a wood burning stove which really pumps out the heat and even slightly chilly mountain nights were fine. We spent our rest days chilling on the balcony and the downstairs patio area, which was sunny and with great views. The nearest climbing areas at Quiros are just fifteen minutes walk away and Taverga is only 20 mins drive. It’s also a quick and easy drive from the airport – less than an hour and main roads for a lot of the journey. Richie and Mary were excellent, they gave us a lot of help on choosing suitable crags for the weather conditions which was really helpful. The climbing here is very good, lots of excellent and totally unpolished limestone. The crags are very quiet too and it's a really lovely place to climb.
