Once had a 6m resin panel and moulded concrete bouldering wall in a dedicated room, by Bendcrete, built 1987, extended 1993. 138 sq m of wall surface. Sports centre facilities.
It's something to do while you wait for the weather to get real nasty! [Martin Boyce 2/00]
Lochaber Leisure Centre had a refurbishment over the last year and the climbing wall has been removed and replaced with dance studios. As a member of the leisure centre I have been assured that there are no plans to reinstate any climbing facility.

I went here in february 03 and havn't been back since, went to the nice fitness suite instead. The wall is very greasy because of the policy of only using mega-grip and never cleaning the holds. The bolt-on routes didn't seem to have had any attention, nothing too exciting. The molded features would have been nice if you weren't perpanently greasing off from the brown slime. My finger tape actually turned brown through the session! Could be good if they cleaned it,got some new holds, did some route setting, allowed chalk and turned on the air conditioning. Otherwise, I suppose it is a place out of the rain and midges...

I had a quick look at the wall in July (02), looks quite small, about the same size as a double garage but OK for keeping the fingers hurting by traversing round the room.
A bit whiffy, may be the "mega-grip" (they promote a chalk free atmosphere) or perhaps the mats in a small warm room with the door shut.
Give it a go on the odd occasion it rains and the mountains aren't calling.
