A lot of the things said on here in previous reviews are no longer relevant. The route setting has improved a lot over the last year and is now pretty good, the atmosphere is generally really friendly, and the previous comments about lots of routes being left ungraded are no longer true. They've also recently tripled the size of the bouldering wall, so as well as the massive overhang they've always had there's now a large amount of boulder problems set on slabs and vertical walls. When I first went there a couple of years ago it was rubbish, but the staff have worked hard to improve the place and these days I really like it.

Bearing in mind the price of other, relatively, close walls (Undercover Rock, The Climbing Academy, The Warehouse etc.) Vertical Limit is right at the top end! In terms of routes they are very much stuck in the stone age (pardon the pun); with rarely changed, strangely graded routes that just seem to be set by local kids. It would be fantastic to see a wall as well run as The Warehouse, however the management seem pretty determined to do as little managing as possible. Most of this could just about be excused if entrance was cheap.

I started climbing here with my housemate about 5 months ago as its just up the road. At first the routes didn't change at all but now the staff get all the roped routes and bouldering routes changed monthly, the routes are now interesting and some quite technical. The bouldering wall is hard as it is so over hanging but lots of fun and a great way to train. The staff are friendly and helpful, on more then one occasion they have helped me crack a problem on the bouldering wall and also offered great advice on equipment etc. The comments on here are bad and they may have been true at one point but the place seems to have changed now and I would recommend it

Years later the same problems still remain. Great atmosphere and bunch of guys who run it. Staff are friendly. However, - half the routes are not graded - They strip good routes with the intention of new ones going up...that take a month to put up - a few really good sections (slab in rear) have only maybe one or two routes if you're lucky. - The boulder wall is geared towards higher end grades (70% of them are V4 onwards) but when you actually see the regular clientel, this is too high. Most climbers are left struggling up two or three very steeps overhung, juggy and little imagination routes. - The traverse was recently changed for the first time in years, four new problems added, all V4's! - The music is rubbish free internet radio. Guys pay for a PRS certificate and play something good. - There are bin bags and hoovers lying around all the time, looks unprofessional - The dry tooling wall is still stood half done after two years... The things go on and on. It just seems that if the bosses cracked the whip a little then there'd be a really premium climbing centre in Worcester. Instead it's known as a poor place for really enthusiastic climbers to go. Even the local climbing gear store will ADVISE you NOT to go climb there. Many, many climbers go out of their way to travel to Birmingham or Gloucester. A great shame.

Taking a break half way up a multipitch wall is hardly in good taste when others would rather be climbing it.

Replying to 'rock_it' the idea of a multi pitch ledge is so that you can take time to teach people multi pitch ?? And the employees are allowed a thing called a break?

I started out climbing here but after a year or two without any real changes to the routes I found other places to climb. Then after a few years abstinence I thought I'd give it another chance, unfortunately I was to be disappointed. Well over half the routes weren’t even graded, one of the guys (who I'm lead to believe worked there route setting), spent most of his time showing off, climbing routes then abseiling down, time which could have been spent actually grading some of the routes. There were a couple of young teenage lads soloing parts of routes and sitting on one of the multi pitch ledges for about an hour making those routes unusable. The routes themselves were confused and unimaginative. All in all not what I’d expect from the 2nd most expensive wall I’ve climbed at. It’s a real shame cause with a few improvements this place would be very good but at the moment it’s just not up to scratch and I’ll be returning to my usual haunts.

Had a good session there last night, the bouldering wall is a good height with excellent matting. It needs some textured features for foot holds (a la Bristol wall), different paint on the panels and investment in good route setting with quality holds. This would make a good wall excellent. Maybe double the size of the bouldering as well?...

our local wall, bouldering is very good ableit some of the problems almost impossible due to some weird hold placements, has a multipitch wall in the other room :)

a great wall wall run by climbers with a very friendly and helpful atmosphere. Routes are complete just not neceserily in a vertical ladder formation as you may get at other walls! Problems changed as often as possible and if you ask for one to be changed, given a week, it will be. Deffinetly recomend the bouldering!

Routes are rarely changed, and aren't much fun to climb. The price is too high for what you get. Shame, as the potential's there.

I decided to give this wall a second chance after reading the comments above. It was a mistake. The bouldering wall has huge potential but the problems are badly set and not pleasant to climb. I can't comment on the routes but I got the consensus they been changed for a long time. There are better walls in the area which are ran by climbers - visit it these instead.

Staff are fantastic, Luther is always happy to help with pretty much anything, they now get guys in to change the routes every so often, and they're working on the second room every time I go in at the moment, so watch this space!

The bouldering wall is good but the problems need to be changed as they have been up there for a while, and also the routes on most of the walls are incomplete. They need to get someone who can route set properly like at the Martley wall

I've been visiting this wall since it opened, about 4 months now. The first time I went I had never climbed before but the staff there have given me little tips etc. and now I'm competent, without even having a course! The bouldering wall is terrific and a must for anyone who doesn't have belaying qualifications (something I will be getting soon!).

Good beginnings to what will be a great wall. The extension will bring great things in the new year. The gloss paint on the bouldering wall is different!

As a novice climber I've found vertical limits extremely friendly, with staff who are are happy to give advice and help to first time climbers.
