Overview

The Alpine Club was founded in 1857, and was the first mountaineering club to be established anywhere in the world.

The AC is a national club and has members dispersed all over the country and the world. The Club's membership comprises of mountaineers who climb in the Alps and Greater Ranges - the Himalaya, Andes, Polar Regions, etc - many of whom are at the leading edge of mountaineering development and exploration

The AC also host a wide range of meets as well as expeditions throughout the year. The Meets Programme provides great opportunities for fellow members to get to know each other in the climbing areas of the UK and the mountains of the world. http://www.alpine-club.org.uk/meets/index.html

The Alpine Club provides a number of resources that will be useful for those planning or researching expeditions.
