Bryn Williams Mountaineering is a family run business based in Snowdonia, North Wales. Bryn has worked full time in the mountaineering sector both privately and freelance since 1998. He has worked for a huge number of organisations and for 9 years was the Executive Office for Mountain Training Cymru and UK, where he was responsible for managing the qualification system and network of course providers around Wales. Bryn has been running various Mountain Training courses for the last 12 years and has trained and assessed over 400 candidates. Bryn has also worked for Plas y Brenin (the National Mountaineering Centre) and continues to deliver courses for them on a free-lance basis.

Bryn has always been a keen rock climber, hill walker and mountaineer with 25 years experience from all around the world. He continues to pursue mountaineering in his free time and has a passion for ski mountaineering. As a teenager, Bryn made the decision to work towards being a mountaineering instructor and progressed through the Mountain Training qualification structure to eventually reach the top qualifications called the Mountaineering Instructor Certificate (MIC) and International Mountain Leader (IML). Bryn is also an active member of the Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team, the busiest Mountain Rescue team in the UK which responds to over 200 rescues each year on Snowdon. Bryn runs training sessions for the team members in various aspects of mountaineering and also contributes towards mountain safety initiatives and projects where possible.

All of Bryn's courses are either delivered by him, or he oversees their delivery through the use of close friends who hold the appropriate experience and shared values to ensure that your course is being delivered to a high standard and delivered in a friendly and enjoyable way. We look forward to meeting you on one of our courses in the future. Should any course date not suit, then do please get in touch as we may be able to offer alternative dates.

Last November, I attend a CWI assessment with Bryn Williams at the Beacon Climbing Centre. The course was itself was fun and practical with a little bit of theory. Bryn run the course in a professional and friendly manner and included a lot of things. Even though I got a fail, I learned a lot from the assessment. Things covered: teaching rehtreaded figure of eight knot with double stopper knot and teaching top roping and belaying with a tuber device and assisted breaking device, technique in toproping, bell ringing including the use of the Italian Hitch, tieing of a belay plate, a small coaching session using bouldering, warming up and personal lead climbing and lead belaying. I would highly recommend Bryn Williams Mountaineering for Mountain Training courses.
