Overview
BACKGROUND
The Arc opened in 2022, having been built by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. It is run by TCA (The Climbing Academy) which also has centres in Bristol and Glasgow.
THE CLIMBING
It has a roped room with a mixture of autobelays, top roped and lead lines. The longest lines are ~15m. Set grades range from 4 to (occasional) 8a, with most routes 5s -7s.
There are 2 bouldering rooms, one next to the rope room with a small overhang area, and a smaller upstairs bouldering room aimed more at children/beginners.
There is also an outdoor wall (with an overhanging roof) next to the skate park.
CAFE
The cafe is very good, with hot/cold drinks, cakes and other snacks and also very affordable hot meals such as chilli/curry/pizza.
CAR PARKING
There is a small amount of (paid) parking near the centre, and a larger (paid) car park a short walk away. It is also within walking distance of the train station.
PRACTICAL STUFF
There are lots of lockers that can be used - bring your own padlock. The toilets are clean, and there is also a shower.
