Rockfax Description
22m. The elegant hanging groove in the impressive hanging arete right of Sandy Crack gives a serious piece of climbing. Climb the roof of Sandy Crack then move right and make difficult moves up to the dubious security of the groove. Continue warily up the groove to the big break and an easy finish up the fluted arete. The Direct Start up the overhanging arete is steep, sustained and unprotected, it weighs in at E8 6b. © Rockfax
UKC Logbook Description
A tremendous route up the grooved arete right of Sandy Crack. Follow Sandy Crack to the slab, place some gear and traverse right to a thin series of moves to enter the groove(crux). Continue up the groove to easier climbing (and gear)and finish up the short arete above.
Another brilliant Northumberland E5 that would be a classic anywhere else and which still has probably seen only a handful of ascents
