Happy Wanderer 23 Apr - Long plod across moorland and streams from Beinn Bhreac to SE shoulder of Beinn a' Chaorainn and up to the windy summit cairn. Missed out Beinn a' Chaorainn Beag as winds increasing and time to get back down to Glen Derry and the long, but beautiful walk out. When descending, continue S past the craggy shoulder and don't be tempted by the chossy stone chutes to get to Lairig an Laoigh - go a little further S along the shoulder to find a gentler and more stable descent! Beautiful valley with views north to Bynack More but headed S back to Derry Lodge through remnant Caledonian forest.

Michael.paparakis 6 Jul, 2013 - Began at car park in Linn of Dee, absolutely mobbed and paid for. Took the path signposted Glen Lui and the walk began. Over a big wooden bridge and then turned left to walk towards Derry Lodge. This was a good few km and took about an hour or so. Once we got to Derry Lodge we took the path heading north into the Glen between Macdhui and Bureac. Decided to follow this path all the way up the Glen to a'Chaorainn. Once the path split - left going to Hutchinsons Memorial Hut and straight on to a'Chaorainn, we walked about another km and then headed straight up over some heather for about 100 metres, taking us to a 1.5km plateau that approaches the Munro from the south east. The ground was dry but after periods of wet it would be very boggy and there was no path noticeable. A anyway, on first to a wee hump and then up the eastern flank of a'Chaorainn. The wind picked up as we began to head to Bhreac. From the summit we headed was for about 500 m to avoid a bog and headed due south to the northern flank of Bhreac, going was difficult as there was no real path but by the time we began the ascent of Bhreac I found a path that led all the way to a'Chaorainn! Anyway, the path winds between the two tops, along the eastern side. Picked this up and I was on the south top in no time. Rather than come off west into a forest in the Glen we headed south, contouring around a 750m peak and joined the path past Derry Lodge on the path out o the car park. 40 minutes or so back to the car park. Sunshine all the way, windy at the summit, burnt neck after walking up the Glen to the furthest Munro - Bert's idea, 27 km, 1000 metres ascent, around 8 hours. Walked with Bert & Stewart.
