Rockfax Description
The other great classic of the cliff is easier for the supple and/or long legged.
1) 5a, 16m. Climb cracks that split the left-hand face (looking out) and move right to a small stance.
2) 5a, 20m. Climb up until it is possible to straddle the groove (exposed) then continue to a niche on the left - possible stance. Finish up the chimney and right-trending grassy ramp above. © Rockfax

Lovely evening and perfectly dry P1 and Jim P2. There is some loose rock to be aware of near top of p2. Fortunately the lump that Jim knocked off didn't get either of us hurt.

Did the first pitch to some tat on the right, seemed too difficult to get in to the corner on the left lower down. Great climbing. Lowered off from the possible end of the first pitch for Chris to have a go before dark

Lead first pitch, then we lowered off from in-situ thread over to the right. Neither of the two pegs inspired confidence and found gear fiddly to arrange.

First pitch HVS 5a to small stance on right.2nd pitch went immediately left into groove 5b, then bridging up the groove, more 5b.Stiff E1 5b unless you go up right from belay then into top of chimney? Trees at top....saplings 25m down the hill, need 60m ropes to reach or belay back down route. Total sandbag at the grade.

Glorious weather, great gear - an absolutely brilliant, adventurous route. HVS 5a only in a very old fashioned sense. 'Stride across' described in guide is ludicrous. Wall climbing up to tat and campus moves into the cave more like E2, top pitch E1.

Led p1. Probably ought to go back again for p2 (although I'm not sure I can be bothered) as Chris bypassed it altogether by taking a line up the chossy wall to the right of the groove

Went off route on pitch 2, too far right. Somewhat loose & vegetated - one star

Polish under decades of vegetation. Top-out reminiscent one of the more adventurous HVSs on the culm coast. Belay on the tree on the other side of the hill by pulling one rope through.
