Was soloing about Brimham in the morning and saw someone screaming with half body inside this beauty and thought I'll have to come back with a rope. Later when no one was keen to second Joe I happily volunteered with a borrowed harness :)

JoeFoster59 05/Nov/16 Lead RP

The final chapter in an epic saga. After trying it twice before as a second, once failing completely to top out even after 45 minutes of struggle and another where it took 30 minutes and all of the skin on my body to get a dogged second. Feeling stoked for offwidths after watching freddie fail on bog crack I rounded up the largest cams I could find ( two of the biggest dmm dragons) and with much trepidation set off on the lead. The first bit was easy as ever so I save my energy and placed on of the dragons at the base of the offwidth once established in the security of the offwidth I placed the second dragon mooving it up slightly as I climbed just to reduce the fall. I tested out the proper arm barring technique (something I lacked on previous ascents) once I felt comfortable it was going to work I gunned for the top. Friction was on my side and to utter disbelief I made it to the top with minimal effort. The power of leading right. Amazing route still can't believe I lead it. Thanks to Flavio for seconding(ish) and Freddie and Rob for the use of their cams. Stellar day.

Amazing climb, though I probably enjoyed watching the seconds even more than climbing it. Massive buzz when Joe, after falling off the crux several times, managed to fight his way through it in about 3 seconds. Ridiculous leg move from Oscar, who managed to bridge in it. Matt and Tom used head jamming, Jessie said it was horrible .

with O, Joe
JoeFoster59 22/May/16 2nd dog

Another amazing day on desperation crack. This time either due to the weather, freddies motivation or an increase in strength I managed to haul myself up the last section. Using my favourite approach of running at climbs I fell off a couple of times at the top. I was slackened back to the start of the offwidth, then shirt came off(for added friction) the helmet came off (to loose some weight) and I threw all of my skin and strength at thrutching my way to salvation. Absolutely elated to to top out as my skin recovered and the biscuit supplies diminishing I thought all that way for a dogged second. I'll be back next year (once I've gained some new skin). Amazing, outstanding maybe my favourite route on grit.

found the main crack a straightforward udge, but the initial "easy" start a nightmare as couldnt reach big jugs at top, and yo-yoed it. Eventually found enough micro gear to prevent deck out and lowered to ground but did not pull ropes - after this led route without rests or falls. Ironically found the main off-width chimney absolutely straightforward.
