Second pitch(first bit we pitched) was absolutely sketchy with terrible gear and horrible moves on soft snow, third pitch was better up a lovely ice filled chute though gear was agian hard to find. Pretty pleased to reach the summit alive not keen to repeat.

Hiked into the Hutchinson via Fiacaill Ridge in the morning (~3 hours), had lunch and set off up this in the afternoon thinking it was a short-ish grade IV. However the route was rather more terrifying and committing than anticipated (to put it lightly). Very little usable ice or snow which made for difficult climbing, and full of rounded, shallow, iced-up cracks which made for very marginal protection throughout. Final V groove (2nd last pitch?) was excellent though. Would probably need to be caked in ice/neve to feel properly 'in'

Nightmare of unconsolidated sugary powder on surprisingly compact rounded granite. Managed two pitches of terror before forging a sketchy retreat.... needs a freeze thaw. Other stuff might have been more ‘in’
